Here at CRU Kafe we have a great appreciation for the beautiful things in life and always make time to stop and enjoy them. As Creative Director, I strive to constantly seek inspiration as I journey through my day; whether it be a cup of perfectly poured latte art, the striking architecture found on London's streets or simply the shades of autumn that now flow through the trees.
Recently I was sitting with our co-founder Bodil as we discussed her love of interior design and it wasn't long before the conversation drifted to an item that almost all of us have in our homes; the coffee table. Bodil effortlessly listed her top 3 must-have coffee tables, and although she sadly does not have space for all of them in her home, she wanted to share their sheer beauty with all of you.
The first on Bodil's list of must-have coffee tables is from Dame Zaha Hadid, an Iraqi-born British architect. Bodil's love for Hadid is not only rooted in her amazing designs but also her pioneering spirit. Hadid's coffee table 'Liquid Glacial' holds a special place in Bodil's heart due to the fact it resembles sheets of ice, a nostalgic element of nature that hints towards Bodil's upbringing in Norway. This table is an amazing piece that, while striking, does not overwhelm a room with it's presence.
While the name Lara Bohinc is synonymous with luxury jewellery and fashion our next coffee table was created out of a collaboration between Bohinc and stone expert Lapicida. The 'Solaris Kinetic Table' was inspired by the orbital movements of planets, featuring decadent shapes and materials with a feminine charm that Bodil loves. The table itself is made up of four marble plates that can all be individually manoeuvred around a single axis.
Last but certainly not least on Bodil's list is a piece of furniture that she has loved for almost 8-years. A playful coffee table from Paris-based artist and designer Mattia Bonetti, 'Yo-Yo' has a sleek aesthetic and is a prime example of how Bonetti is a master at capturing a room. This piece of furniture design is great for indulging your inner child while still serving a valid purpose in your home.
We may have only featured her top choices but this list is by no means exhaustive. If you ever find yourself bumping into Bodil I'm sure she would love to talk to you about her love for other designers such as the duo of Fredrikson Stallard or the regenerating genius of Stuart Haygarth. Please do feel free to send us any coffee tables that inspire you. If you'd like to follow Bodil on Instagram then join her at instagram.com/bodilcru
