We’re not sure where you were earlier today but we definitely got our year off to a running start by partnering with our friends at Rude Health. This morning we held our first ever CRU Run Club and led a #RudeRun through Holland Park. We got prepared at 06.15 with CRU team member Xander Fletcher brewing some hot Chemexes into flasks to fuel the runners pre-workout! In the dark we bumbled our way on our CRU Kafe bicycle up to Holland Park where spirits were high as we emerged through the mist armed with some fresh Cajamarca Single Origin coffee.
With a squad of around 30 early risers ready to kickstart their day, we teamed up with a pair of young health enthusiasts, TJ and Jamie from @theSculptMentality, to lead the run. The up and coming London fitness duo led a quick warm up which saw the Food Busker lunging like a champion! After a quick team photo we set off at around 7.30 for a 5km run, starting with a loop of Holland Park. A female-dominated crowd definitely made some noise as the sun came up.
After one lap of the park we headed to the Holland Walk for 10 minutes of hill sprints, an unexpected surprise for some of the participants who were hoping for a gentle stroll. We all made it up and down a few times before navigating the 30-man squad towards CRU Kafe HQ.
Back at CRU we had a great warm down from the #Sculptsquad and all swarmed inside for a Rude Health porridge breakfast, cooked by our very own Food Busker and his lovely home economist Clare. The breakfast included Rude Health’s Organic Sprouted Porridge Oats made with their Cashew Milk, topped with pecan, coffee and cocoa dust. We also pimped the porridges with a roasted nut and seed mix, as well as a selection of dried fruits. It wouldn’t be a proper breakfast without our new head barista Robin producing some amazing flat whites to accompany a hearty, healthy breakfast. What better way to kick-start a bleak Thursday?
It was an amazing turnout and definitely something we'll be doing again in the future. If you want to get involved in our next run watch this space for more!
